Unilever, BAT and Banglalink donate Tk17.5cr to govt’s Labour Welfare Fund

Unilever Bangladesh, British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company Ltd (BATB) and Banglalink have donated Tk 17.5 crore to the Labour Welfare Fund under the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Representatives of the three companies handed over the cheques to State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Mannujan Sufian in the conference room at the Secretariat on Sunday, said a press release. On behalf BAT Bangladesh, a four-member delegations team led by Head of Human Resources department Saad Jasim, handed over the cheque worth around Tk9.15 to Mannujan Sufian.

The initiative taken by the government aims to ensure the safety of workers and to establish a ‘Worker Welfare Fund’ for cooperation. The fund promises to help the workers and their family in case of any major disaster. This is a big relief to the workers and their work life.
