In a collaborative effort, United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) has extended support to these scientists through its Agro-CSR project. The research, conducted in the agricultural fields of Bogura and Rangpur, aims to assess how organic pesticides can mitigate the environmental impact of conventional farming practices.
Dr. Nirmal Chandra, Mustafizur Rahman, Harun or Rashid, and other esteemed scientists comprise the research team, which has been pivotal in highlighting the technological advancements through various activities such as farmer training, exhibitions, and field day celebrations.
During a recent Field Day event held in Mithapukur, Rangpur, key figures including ATM Tahmiduzzaman, additional managing director of UCB, and Rezaul Karim Siddique, renowned for his agricultural insights on BTV’s show ‘Mati O Manush,’ joined alongside agricultural entrepreneurs to discuss the importance of sustainable agricultural practices.
The initiative underscores a growing global trend towards ensuring food safety and security by reducing reliance on chemical pesticides, which pose risks to both consumers and the environment. UCB PLC’s ‘Bhoroshar Notun Janala’ project aligns with these goals by providing essential technical support to farmers, encouraging the adoption of organic fertilizers and non-toxic pest control methods like Trichogramma wasps and biopesticides.
This collaborative effort marks a significant step towards promoting a healthier and more sustainable agricultural landscape in Bangladesh, addressing both current agricultural challenges and future food security concerns.
