The training session was inaugurated by ATM Tahmiduzzaman, Additional Managing Director and Company Secretary of UCB, who served as the chief guest. Rezaul Karim Siddique, presenter of BTV’s agriculture-based show ‘Mati O Manush’ and an agricultural analyst, attended as a special guest.
ATM Tahmiduzzaman highlighted UCB’s commitment to agricultural development through the ‘Bhoroshar Notun Janala’ project, which aims to upskill agri-entrepreneurs across the country and provide them with accessible loan assistance. “Our goal is to transform farmers into entrepreneurs by offering training and support in all 64 districts as part of our corporate social responsibility, following the Bangladesh Bank’s directive. Narayanganj marks the 51st district for our training program,” he stated.
Rezaul Karim Siddique stressed the importance of business acumen for farmers, advising them to increase their knowledge about production timing and profitability. “To compete effectively, farmers must enhance the quality and diversity of their products. Creativity and innovation are key to achieving success,” he added.
Other speakers at the event included District Livestock Officer Muhammad Farooq Ahmed; Additional Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension Sheikh Bipul Hossain; Senior Assistant Director of District Fisheries Office SM Ashiqur Rahman; UCB’s Senior Executive Vice President & Head of Transaction Banking and Branch Distribution Channel Md Sekandar-E-Azam; Senior Executive Vice President & Head of Credit Risk Management (Retail) SM Moinul Hossain; and Executive Vice President & Head of Liability and Operations Sheikh Nahid Reza.
The training covered topics such as the disbursement of agricultural loans and the provision of agricultural incentives on favorable terms. Following the training, participants received various materials, including seeds and fertilizers, to support their entrepreneurial endeavors.
