This Recyclable Plastic Wrapper by Nestle degrades in Water

Nestle launched a recyclable plastic wrapper for a snack bar that will degrade in water within six months.

The YES! range from Nestle, which launched recently, claims to completely degrade within 6 months in a marine environment.

It is now available in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxemburg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, and the United Kingdom. More countries in Europe and beyond will follow soon.

Last year, the brand pledged to make all of its packaging recyclable or reusable by 2025.

The confectionery company said it had to overcome 90 challenges to develop the material and adapt current machinery and processes to handle the product more gently.

The wrappers contained around 60% recyclable fibres and will carry the message “carefully wrapped in paper”.
