Over 3 in 5 women in Bangladesh are victims of cyber bullying, ID hacking, publishing sensitive information-pictures-videos and sexual harassment online. This is more prevalent among women between 15-24 years of age. Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed launched the wing at the Rajarbagh Police Lines Auditorium on Monday.
“We have taken initiatives to keep the cyberspace safe and to ensure safety of women,” he added, stating that over 6,099 cases have already been received.
The wing will primarily be handled by women members of the Police, so victims can talk freely and can report any crime without hesitation. The team is highly skilled to give legal assistance and advice when necessary.
