Kato posted a facebook status in Japanese language alongside a video message to attract the sponsors and donors in their bid to manage the finances of the top-flight side after they revealed their hapless financial situation at the beginning of this month.
The Japanese midfielder explained about the club and translated the word ‘Muktijoddha’ (Freedom Fighter) before discussing Bangladesh’s war for independence in 1971.
He talked about the history of the Swadhin Bangla Football Team, The team played across India in 1971 to raise money for the freedom fighters. He also brought to light the team manager’s struggle to keep the history and loving team alive.
“The team needs $500,000 to survive and only $100,000 is in sight”, stated Kato while asking for cooperation. The financial struggles have affected the players and come in the way of their practice.
