IDLC CSR contributes to maternal health with UNICEF’s project in Sylhet tea gardens

IDLC, through its CSR, will support the renovation of the tea gardens’ health facility overseen by UNICEF.

The largest Non-Banking Financial Institution (NBFI), IDLC Finance Limited, as a part of its CSR, partnered with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to fund water and sanitation and hygiene (WASH) blocks and medical equipment to seven tea gardens in Sylhet.

Communities of workers in the tea gardens often are from impoverished families, suffering from poor wages and cruel living conditions, and live from hand to mouth. UNICEF provides the healthcare workers working for these communities with capacity-building and access to facilities and proper government channels to continue to support healthcare in these areas.

This partnership will benefit an approximate 7,000 women, 3,000 children under the age of five and 5,000 adolescents in the community.
