Today, Huawei, the world’s top provider of information and communications technology (ICT) equipment and solutions, distributes relief goods to flood victims in the Natore district.
The chief guest, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, was present at the event.
The occasion was attended by George Lin, president of Huawei Bangladesh’s Enterprise Business Group; M. M. Samirul Islam, UNO of Singra, Natore; Sonjoy Kumar Shaha, acting mayor of Singra Pourasabha, Natore; and other Huawei executives.
The relief supplies were given to the Pallishri Unnayan Sangstha, which would distribute them to the locals.
Around 70,000 people have been impacted by floods in several parts of Natore district this year, including Gurudaspur, Singra, Naldanga, and Baraigram Upazila, due to rising water levels and a rapid onrush of water.
New development regions, croplands, and residences have been submerged as a result of such unexpected flash floods, putting the lives and livelihoods of people in peril.
In the face of this, Huawei has stepped in with aid for the flood-affected residents of these locations. Around 2,000 households will get food packets containing rice, red lentils, potatoes, salt, sugar, and oral saline as part of this humanitarian effort.
“Pandemic has troubled individuals and corporate organizations,” stated Zunaid Ahmed Palak. Furthermore, the recent flood has wreaked havoc on far-flung communities. And, understanding this, even in the face of pandemic obstacles, a responsible firm, Huawei Bangladesh, has stepped up to help those in need.”
“Previously, there was no respite in this area. And, as a Natore resident, I was acutely aware of my people’s suffering. As a result, we worked to assure assistance from the government’s end. As a resident in this neighbourhood, I’d want to convey my gratitude to Huawei on behalf of the recipients for today’s event. This isn’t everything. For the past few days, I’ve been keeping an eye on Huawei Bangladesh. This firm has a number of CSR efforts, as far as I’m aware. In many respects, this might be a good illustration of how a corporation operates in Bangladesh for Bangladesh.”, he said.
Huawei has launched the ‘In Bangladesh, For Bangladesh – Share To Care’ campaign to support flood victims who have been devastated by monsoon floods.
