The initiative was launched with support from TransEnd, an organisation dedicated to empowering members of the Bangladeshi transgender community, according to a press release.
A training completion ceremony was held at foodpanda hub office in Chittagong on Thursday where the gears were distributed among the riders, said a press release.
Foodpanda is working towards building a more inclusive environment for transgender individuals nationwide.
As part of this initiative, foodpanda trained the riders for several weeks and equipped them with proper delivery gear so that they can work proudly and independently as foodpanda riders.
Initially, 20 riders have been onboarded in Chattogram and Dhaka. Additionally, several other members of the transgender community have already been working as warehouse staff in foodpanda’s pandamart dark stores.
TransEnd has facilitated the process and supported foodpanda in hiring and training the riders.
