Adding to this stride, yet another garment factory in Bangladesh has earned LEED certification from the prestigious United States Green Building Council (USGBC), bringing the tally of environmentally conscious factories in the nation to a notable 215.
Prior to awarding LEED certification, USGBC meticulously evaluates various criteria including transformational performance, energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste management. Notably, the top performers are bestowed with platinum ratings, followed by gold and silver.
Bangladesh stands at the pinnacle as the global frontrunner with an impressive count of 81 platinum-rated and 120 gold-rated green garment buildings. This continuous recognition underscores the country’s unwavering commitment to sustainability since the inception of these certifications in 2001.
