The first initiative, “Promoting Rights and Advancement of Women and Girls to Prevent GBV,” underscores a commitment to CSR principles by aiming to foster an inclusive community and mitigate harmful practices. This project emphasizes the development of robust legal and policy frameworks, capacity-building, and the provision of essential livelihood services at both national and sub-national levels. Led by the Department of Women Affairs under the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, this project receives substantial backing, including a Taka 825.00 lakh grant from UNFPA complemented by additional funding from the Bangladesh government.
In parallel, the “Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence Against Women and Girls (PREVAIL)” project aims to bolster the Bangladesh Police’s capabilities in combating GBV. Through targeted training on the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Special Service Desks in priority districts, and gender-transformative measures in 92 police stations, this initiative exemplifies a CSR-driven approach to enhancing public safety and service delivery for women. Implemented under the Public Security Division, this project benefits from a Taka 731.79 lakh grant from UNFPA.
These initiatives, spearheaded by the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs and the Bangladesh Police, not only address critical social issues but also align with broader CSR objectives and contribute significantly to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By investing in these transformative projects, the Government of Bangladesh and UNFPA reaffirm their commitment to CSR values, sustainable development, and improving the quality of life for all Bangladeshis.
The partnership between ERD and UNFPA signifies a shared dedication to creating a safer, more equitable society through collaborative CSR initiatives, demonstrating a proactive stance towards societal well-being and development.
