Brac University donates 65L to flood victims

Brac University has donated Tk65 lakh for people affected by floods in Bangladesh’s northeastern region.

On behalf of the university, Vice Chancellor Prof Vincent Chang handed over the cheque to KAM Morshed, senior director, Advocacy For Social Change and Technology, Brac, said a media release issued on Tuesday.

Staff and faculty members voluntarily contributed their one day’s gross salary from their June payroll. Brac University matched the amount of donations collected.

The university donated the amount to the Brac Emergency Flood Assistance Fund.

Brac has been working to support flood victims alongside the government since the beginning of the flooding.

VC Chang initiated the donation program to stand beside the vulnerable communities in the flood-affected areas.

“Amidst the economic downturn from the pandemic, the humanitarian fallout from this flood situation can be catastrophic. Let us unite in supporting the destitute in this dire situation,” said Chang.
