The financing arrangement includes a $20 million loan directly from ADB and a $20 million syndicated B-loan from the ILX Fund, an Amsterdam-based asset manager focused on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with ADB serving as the lender of record. ADB played a key role as the mandated lead arranger, structuring and syndicating the financing package.
The factory will incorporate advanced, automated energy-efficient machinery and equipment based on the latest technology, underlining its commitment to sustainability. The construction phase is projected to create 200 jobs, with an additional 1,000 jobs generated during the operational phase.
Suzanne Gaboury, ADB Director General for Private Sector Operations, emphasized the project’s broader impact: “Bangladesh’s textile industry is a cornerstone of the economy, supporting millions of livelihoods and driving exports. This project not only bolsters economic growth but also enhances national resilience. ADB’s support will help attract essential financing to this vital sector.”
